Green Mountain Council, BSA welcomes Billy Gillam, Jr to the Council staff

Scout Executive, Ed McCollin announced that Billy Gillam, Jr has accepted the position of District Executive for the Ethan Allen District of the Green Mountain Council.
 
In his role, Billy will be responsible for the Scouting programs in Addison, Rutland and Bennington counties focusing on growing Scouting and supporting the hundreds of volunteers who serve as leaders for the Scouting units in the district.
 
Billy is a native of Rutland Vermont and has extensive background in customer and community service with experience in the food service and hotel industry.  He is an active member of the Rutland Salvation Army and serves on the Board of Alderman for the City of Rutland.
 
“He is a welcome addition to the Green Mountain Council team filling a position that has been vacant for some time, stated McCollin.  We look forward to him using his skill set and relationships to move the programs of Scouting in a positive direction, creating awareness and excitement about Scouting in the area he serves.”

Eagle Project Approvals

Summer is a great time for Life Scouts to work on their Eagle Projects which makes Spring the perfect time to get a project approved!  Here are some tips for preparing Life Scouts for their Eagle Project:
  • Use the most recent Eagle Scout Project Workbook which is available here
  • Fill out the Project Proposal completely and legibly (typed is preferred)
  • Get the required signatures in the order they appear on the form
  • Send the completed proposal to Dean Silloway with a Self Addressed Stamped Return Envelope for Ethan Allen District Approval: Dean Silloway, 421 Orchard Hl, Pittsford, VT 05763
  • Refer to the Eagle Scout Procedures Guide located here to answer any questions regarding Life to Eagle

2019 Spring Camporee hosted by Troop 110

Troop 110 has been busy planning this year's Sci-Fi Evolution themed Spring Camporee to be held at Camp Sunrise April 26-18, 2019.  Saturday morning will have activities hosted by the Troops in attendence, the afternoon will have the main activity (in 2 parts!).  Everyone will have an opportunity to participate in the closing campfire - units can perform a short skit and we will have a Flag Retirement ceremony at the end.  **Note: This year, units are responsible for ALL their meals.  If you have any questions contact Sarah-Lynne Carrara.
