Counselor in Training(CIT) Program
Scouts aged 15 by June 1, 2023, who have interest in serving Mount Norris Scout Reservation as a Counselor in Training will experience a curriculum in the 2022 season that is aimed to develop their leadership, customer service, teaching, and self.
There will be a one-week session for Counselors in Training held in the 2022 season. Each session will utilize the Patrol Method in providing Counselors in Training with a true scouting experience. Every day will be different, filled with exciting and unique experiences designed to not only create great staff members at camp, but confident leaders in their daily lives. The training syllabus is developed to teach them the various skills needed to be a successful staff member. Part of the training involves working alongside the program staff in their assigned areas.
Scouts interested in participating in the program should submit a staff application below. The program is geared to recruit potential staff members and expose them to the many facets of the summer camp program while preparing them for positions as staff members. Time is allotted for work on merit badges. Scouts who successfully complete the Counselor-In-Training program may be invited to return for a 2nd week. At the end of the GMC Camp Guide v1.0 Page 33 SCOUTS BSA INFORMATION period, an evaluation of the CIT will be conducted to determine their qualification for future work at camp as a staff member.
