The District’s Purpose
A Scouting district is a geographical area of the BSA local council, determined by the council executive board. District leaders mobilize resources to ensure the growth and success of Scouting units within the district’s territory. The purpose of the district is to work through chartered organizations and community groups to organize and support successful units. The end result of effective district support is more and more youth members receiving a better and better program. |
The District's Functions
Membership The membership function strives for growth through the organization of new Scouting units Finance The finance function sees that the district provides its share of funds to the total council operating budget. Program The program function concentrates on helping Scouting units with camp promotion; special activities including community service; training adult volunteers; and youth advancement and recognition. Unit Service The unit service function provides direct coaching and consultation by district volunteers for unit adults to help ensure the success of every Scouting unit. |
Three Rivers District Team
District Committee leadership includes the District Chairman and Chairmen for the Membership Committee, Finance Committee, and Program functions.
TheProgram function includes tasks to be performed related to Training, Advancement/Recognition, Camp Promotion/Outdoor, and Activities/Civic Service.
The District Chairman also appoints special and ad hoc committees.

Comissioners
Commissioners are district leaders who help Scout units succeed. They coach and consult with adult leaders of Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, and Venturing crews. Commissioners help maintain the standards of the Boy Scouts of America.
