Please join me in welcoming Ian to the staff of the Green Mountain Council. Hello! My name is Ian Molloy and have recently moved to Bristol to work with the Ethan Allen District. I grew up in Auburn, New York 40 miles west of Syracuse and have been involved with the scouting program since I was a Tiger. I have held various roles such as Senior Patrol Leader, Lodge Chief, Health Director, Aquatics Director, Assistant Program Director, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Member and I am eager to now add District Executive to the list as well. I am looking forward to meeting all who are a part of the district and will work diligently to help the program grow allowing an even stronger community of Scouting in the years to come. I will see you soon! Where – Camp Sunrise, Benson VT Who – Boy Scouts, Venture Crews, Cub Scouts, Lone Scouts, Explorers, leaders and parents. Traditionally, beaver day falls on this weekend at Camp Sunrise. What’s beaver day? It’s a day that volunteers and supporters of Camp Sunrise come and perform various tasks to help prepare the camp for the summer. To follow in this tradition, each unit needs to bring a competition event that is service based. Let your imaginations run wild. All events should be based on patrols of 8. There will be a district run event that if everything works out will involve pulling triggers. Don’t worry about fixing lunch! Lunch will be provided as part of the cost of the event. In the place of an afternoon camp wide game, there will be a list of service projects that everyone will be able to sign up for when they register. If you or your group have a specific set of skills that you feel can be utilized please let us know in advance. There may be a couple of large projects that will require more than one troop or pack. For the camp wide cook-off, it will be a dessert competition. Units will eat dinner on their own and then bring their dessert for camp wide judging. There will be a separate award for the best dessert. There will also be a separate set of instructions for the cook off. Due to the fact that there will be a Cub specific event only 2 weeks before this, there will be no separate Cub Scout Activities. Cub Scouts are still encouraged to attend but as a unit (pack) and move through the activities as a patrol just as the Boy Scouts will be doing on this day. Packs are also encouraged to bring an event for everyone to compete in Saturday Morning. Other highlights of the day will be; flag retirement ceremony, Order of the Arrow call out ceremony and more! More information and registration can be found on the Ethan Allen Activities Page. Ethan Allen's March Roundtable will be High Adventure Trips and Planning

Please consider having your Election at Camp Sunrise as a 'Scout is Thrifty'; it helps the OA to conserve manpower, resources, and allows us to ensure coverage to all units to conduct an Election.
Our Election Season is shortened this year related to Ethan Allen's Camporee being April 21st - 23rd, with the Call Out Ceremony Saturday, April 22nd at the campfire. So Elections will close on April 10th so we can get paperwork organized and presented prior to Call Out. Please contact Dave Nicol to access paperwork prior to Saturday. There is a form which needs to have all eligible candidates name, address, Scout number, and other pertinent info. It shortens the process if we're all prepared. We're looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Thank you for your time and consideration and support of the Order of the Arrow. If you have any questions, please contact: Dave Nicol, Chapter 1 OA Advisor (802) 282-6995 orngcelthealer59@aol.com |
