Welcome to the Green Mountain Council

Welcome to the official website of the Green Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America. We are pleased to offer this site as a resource for all involved in the Scouting program.

  • The 2017 National Scout Jamboree is a national encampment that brings together Boy Scouts, Venturers and leaders from all over the United States, along with many visiting Scouts from many parts of the world. The Jamboree is planned for 40,000 Scouts, Venturers and unit leaders, plus over 9,000 staff members. The plan calls for provisional units, with Scouts, Venturers and leaders in 20 Subcamps organized into five villages. As in 2013, Venture Crews will participate. The Jamboree is an unforgettable experience of Scouting at its finest, the opportunity to forge Scouting friendships that endure forever, in a virtually non-stop program of challenging and fun events.

    What's at The Summit?

"The Summit Bechtel Reserve, meanwhile, is a permanent jamboree home, meaning the BSA got to build the ultimate playground for Scouts and Venturers. I’m talking 5 miles of zip lines and challenge courses, 36 miles of mountain bike trails, 13 acres of shooting sports ranges, kayaking, rock climbing, bouldering, skateboarding, BMX and so much more."  (From Bryan on Scouting)
