Dear Green Mountain Council Scouts, Venturers and Families:
Were you able to take part in the 2017 National Scout Jamboree at the Summit? Are you still reliving all of the adventures, activities and new friendships? Or were you not able to attend the National Jamboree, and are you looking for a mountaintop Scouting experience like it? Well, Green Mountain Council is accepting applications right now to attend the 2019 World Scout Jamboree, which will be held right at the Summit with all of its natural beauty and awesome activities. What are the differences between a World Jamboree and a National Jamboree? Numbers, for one, the WSJ will involve around 50,000 participants. And the WORLD will be attending. Your subcamp neighbors will be not just from our Scouting region, but from all over the World. You will be immersed in a sea of languages, cultures and customs, with Scouting friends who share the same spirit, values and commitment to making the world a better place. It will be a somewhat older, coed crowd (minimum participant age is 14 years). And you will find an exponential power of truly non-stop celebration in what has to be the most beautiful Scouting venue in the world!
This opportunity, to attend a World Jamboree in our own country, is not going to come around again soon. The last World Jamboree held in the US was way back in 1967, and it may be that long again, before we host another World Jamboree. So, don’t delay, get your application in today!
Below you will find official information from B.S.A. about the WSJ and how to apply for a spot in the US Contingent. And if you have any questions about the World Jambo experience, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
