Our goal is to provide the best possible customer service to the parents of Scouts and Scout leaders who are looking to purchase Scout related products, awards, badges, uniform parts, support materials and more for their Scout, Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout troop or Venturing Crew. To that end, the Scout Shop staff wanted to share some information with you about our products, current business hours and the variety of ways they work to provide the items you need in a timely and efficient manner.

Ordering
There are times when a customer may want something that is not currently in stock. Like any business, while it may not be in stock, it can be ordered and in-hand in a few days. It is important to note two very important points regarding inventory.
- When placing an order, please allow enough time from placing the order to when it is needed. In case there is something that is not in stock, it will allow time for us to order and have it in time for your event.
- Delivery options include:
- point of sale (POS) where customer orders and picks up or is an in-store purchase
- mail order, which has become a large part our daily sales, with the delivery method via the USPS for customers. Order is placed, picked, packaged and mailed, most times by the next day after it is received.
- Staff and/or event delivery - the Council field staff move through the communities in their district on a regular basis. If and when possible, they are happy to grab the order and hand deliver saving postage. Other times it may be a district or council event. The staff is happy to do this, not as a delivery service, but as a service to the customer.
- Scoutshop.org – (formerly Scoutstuff.org) this is the national BSA website which supports Scouting across the country and, while admittedly, it is a nice on-line ordering format for Scouting supplies, like any other business in Vermont, our mantra is “Buy local and support Scouting in Vermont”. The Green Mountain Council Scout Shop can get anything that is on the Scoutshop website for you, normally within a week. It is our hope that with a little patience and some advanced planning, the Scout store staff can fill your order and keep the business in the boundaries of this great state. Your help with this reminder is greatly appreciated.
- Hours – the staff has heard that there are volunteers who are wondering about the hours of operation. Based on the above information, is it worth the time and money to provide another option to better serve its customers, which would be to expand the hours every Tuesday to 7:00 PM instead of 5:00 PM?
- Survey: To that end, would you take advantage of this option and physically visit the store to make purchases? Yes or No? We would like to hear from you so an educated business decision can be made.
