During Green-Up Day hundreds of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers canvassed their respective neighborhoods, parks and streets to help clean up Vermont. While many other groups joined in the effort, this is just one more way the Boy Scouts of America contribute to making the communities where they live, better each and every day.
Special thanks to everyone (in or out of Scouts) who played a role in this great tradition. Your work truly did and does make a difference in the pride and satisfaction of living in one of the cleanest states in America.
A reminder to all leaders whose unit participated in some way, don’t forget to take a moment and log the number of community service hours that were performed toward Green Up. To do this, simply click on the Journey to Excellence (JTE) Icon on the lower right portion of the website home page. Follow the prompts and you are done! This information is then transposed to the unit, district and council Journey to Excellence scorecards.
As for other times of the year, assign a parent or leader to be your “Community Service Recorder” and he or she logs the hours each and every time the unit or an individual is performing community service work.
We are making a difference. These little JTE dials prove it.
