Earn points on the Journey to Excellence Scorecard!
Hundreds of people from across Vermont spent countless hours picking up tons of trash along roadways, paths, streams, sidewalks, parks and every other location where litter accumulated over the winter. Green recycled trash bags could be seen along almost every highway over the weekend, prepared for the Department of Transportation to come around and take them away to their proper disposal site. It was a tremendous effort by the citizens of this state.
I know for a fact that many Scouting units participated in Green Up Day as well doing their part in protecting and improving the environment where they live, work and play. A sincere and heartfelt thank you goes out to every leader and parent who took the time to work and support the Scouts in this effort. It is who we are and what we do and, whether the Scouts were in uniform or not, each person knows in their own heart and mind that he or she played a role in making Vermont one of the cleanest states in the nation!
As a reminder, please be sure to have someone in the pack or troop enter in the total number of service hours put in by the Scouts and leaders. This number will help improve the unit, district and Council Journey to Excellence scorecard and put Green Mountain Council on the upper echelon with other Councils.
