Green Mountain Council and the State of Vermont to recognize the Class of 2016 Eagle Scouts

1/13/2017

Join us along with the Vermont Legislators, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps and American Legion, to  proclaim Friday, February 10 as Eagle Scout Recognition Day!

Festivities will begin at 9:00 AM in the State House where a Proclamation will be read by one our Friends of Scouting legislators honoring these young men.  This will followed by an awards ceremony and photo-op with a key member of Governor Phil Scott’s Cabinet in the Pavilion Auditorium adjacent to the State House.  The day will culminate with a wonderful luncheon put on by the staff of the Capitol Plaza in Montpelier at 12:00  noon.  The program will feature guest speaker Michael Schirling, a former Explorer and Police Chief of Burlington.  Mike was recently appointed to Governor Phil Scott’s team as Secretary of Commerce and Community Development.  In addition there will be certificates presented to the Scouts from the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Marine Corp. Auxiliary.  If you are an Eagle Scout or simply have an interest in Scouting, this is a great event to see and meet the finished product of what Scouting can do to develop character and leadership in the youth of Vermont.

Is this a general invitation to Scouters or is it for new Eagles and parents or their supporters (e.g., Scoutmaster). I usually try to donate to support those folks. How will I know what Eagles are coming from my area?
