OKPIK is the standard BSA model for teaching cold weather camping skills, which provides lessons and materials you can take back to your troop or crew to train them how to survive, thrive and have fun. Green Mountain Council has offered a weekend of intensive training in cold weather skills state-wide since 2011, with a very experienced staff. Topics include: building winter shelters, clothing and gear, medical emergencies, risk management, menu planning and cooking, Leave No Trace (LNT) and more! Plus you learn how to sleep warm, yet bug-free, outside at Mt Norris Scout Reservation. Open to all BSA-registered adult and youth leaders, 16 or older. Registration is limited so please sign up by December 31st and take advantage of the early bird fee.
