Cost: $20 (covers foil packet lunch, dinner, cracker barrel, breakfast & course copies)
Dress: Scout Field Uniform + Appropriate Outdoor Weather Gear
BALOO training is for any Cub Scout Leader with a desire to plan and carry out any outdoor experience for their Pack. At least one leader must be BALOO trained to conduct Pack/Den overnights.
Elements of BALOO include:
• Online prerequisite BALOO (please complete before coming on Saturday)
• Aims & Purposes of the Outdoor Program
• Campfire Planning
• Health & Safety Issues
• Outdoor Equipment and Outdoor Ethics
• Cub Scout cooking
• Cub Scouts and GPS, Aquatics, Knife Safety
• First Aid and sanitation
• Stoves, Lanterns and Camping Equipment
• Safety
And with the new curriculum:
• Camping overnight (bring your own individual sized tent, sleeping bag, etc)
BALOO is an all day course with a camping overnight. Parts of the training will be held outdoors so please dress appropriately. Please also bring your completed BSA Medical form – only Parts A&B are required. Please see the information on the Green Mountain Council website for more details.
You must take the online BALOO prerequisite course available under my.scouting.org. Completion of that course needs to be brought on Oct 27th. Also, since it is an overnight, you will need to bring a completed medical form parts A & B as well as individual camping gear such as a small tent, sleeping gear, etc.
Please register for this course by Friday Oct 19th.
