An Award for Cub Summer Adventures

5/24/2017

Conduct a pack activity a month during June, July, and August and earn the National Summertime Pack award. Recognitions include flag ribbon and certificate for the Pack, and ribbons for dens with 50% participation. But the best part: there's a rank-specific pin to award to Cubs who attend a Pack activity in each of the months of June, July, and August. The reporting form for this award can be found at http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/33748.pdf

Keep this award in mind when planning your unit's summer adventures. While a Pack family campout is an important part of the program, plan other opportunities to stay in touch with your Scouts to minimize losses when den meetings restart in the fall. How about a June hike, July swimming or fishing, August campfire with s'mores?   Saturdays are at a premium, so consider weeknight activities scheduled the same day as your usual Pack meetings to maintain the Scouting habit. And remind boys to bring a friend to Join the Adventure!
