Many of you should have received a letter outlining the new Family Scouting initiative launched by the Boy Scouts of America earlier this year. It was an overview of what is to come and now we want to give you some additional details on this new program and how it may or may not impact the Scouting program in your community. To that end:
The Green Mountain Council will hold an “All-Council Summit” on Saturday, March 24, at the Latter Day Saints Church at 244 Hersey Road, Berlin, VT, from 9:00 AM to noon with the main focus being how you and others can best serve and adjust to welcoming the entire family into the BSA including some very new and important information regarding the Boy Scout family program. This meeting is for everyone and you are encouraged to bring all your Pack and Troop leaders. In addition to the Family Scouting program rollout, there will be other agenda items, including summer camp programs, the new Youth Protection Training format, Spring recruitment ideas and support materials, summertime pack award opportunities, overall program planning ideas, and much more!
The Family Scouting program however, is a game changer for the Boy Scouts of America. It is a very exciting time to be part of this movement. We will now be able to extend to girls and their families our mission of preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values found in the Scout Oath and Law. Watch for additional information as it becomes available.
Please plan to join us to learn how, who and when this new look for Scouting will impact your unit. Please RSVP your attendance to Arlene Matheson at Arlene.matheson@scouting.org no later than March 22nd.
Dress is Scout uniform or business casual.
