Its time to be thinking about the 2017 Spring Popcorn Sale! You will want to attend the training session on March 15th . The nuts are back in the Spring popcorn sale, providing an opportunity that is unique to selling in the spring.
Selling Trail’s End popcorn and Whitley’s peanuts is a great way to raise money for your pack or troop. Many units are able to fund their entire annual program from this one product sale. Selling these products helps support not only your unit but also the many programs of the Green Mountain Council, including summer camp. A very high percentage (70%) of the money raised through popcorn sales is reinvested back to your unit and the Scouting programs in Vermont.
We realize that many units use the spring sale to help pay for summer camp, so it was decided to continue with the increase in commission by 2% instead of offering prizes. Units can earn 35% commission with the chance to earn even more if they increase the unit sales over the prior year by at least 7%. Your Troop or Pack will earn the same percentages as in past sales. Deliveries will be very similar to how they have operated in the past. New for 2017 is Trails End bringing back the Trail mix product!
Other important and “need to know” changes for 2017 include ideas that will help your unit increase sales, streamline some of the paperwork, and ensure the unit Kernel and parents and Scouts are prepared for a great sale. For now here are some items to check off;
The goal as in past years, is to make this sale as fun, easy and successful as possible. To get started, you are invited and strongly encouraged to attend a Coordinator orientation session on Wednesday, March 15. You will receive everything you need to enable your Troop or Pack to potentially fund an entire year of Scouting!! To that end and that you have the most up to date information about the sale, please plan to attend this session on March 15th.
Let’s crunch, munch, pop and enjoy our way into the most successful year of Scouting ever!

- Does the unit have a product sale coordinator identified and confirmed?
- Does the unit have an established budget for the year that gives you a target for what you need to earn on the sale? A program budget has been a key reason units have increased their sale from other years.
- Has a product kick-off date been set to train the Scouts and families about the sale?
