University of Scouting
2017 Saturday, March 11th
Vermont National Guard Armory
161 University Drive, Northfield, VT
What is the University of Scouting?
This training program is unlike any other training available to unit leaders. Experienced leaders and trainers will be presenting a variety of topics that are designed to give those attending both more detailed information on how Scouting works and true to life examples of how to make the program presented to scouts special. The University of Scouting training program follows a design similar to a real university or college. The degree program is a way to help a leader organize what level of supplemental training one pursues. The degrees are also a way for Scout leaders to earn patches, a popular pastime for many Scouters.
Who can and should attend?
All leaders, assistants, and committee members registered with any Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop or Venturing Crew. In addition persons holding positions at the district or Council level are welcome. The course selection is varied so that regardless of unit position, one will gain something to take back and implement at the unit level. It does not matter how long a person has been involved in Scouting; from brand new to a seasoned veteran of this organization. There is always something new that everyone can take away from this day of training. In addition, the face to face interaction and fellowship with other Scouting persons adds an additional enhancement to enjoying the day.
Dress: Participants should be in proper Scout uniform. For new leaders, business casual is appropriate, but don’t forget, the uniform is a big part of Scouting and setting the example. In addition Scout Spirit, curiosity, questions, and a notebook. are highly recommended.
Fees: Cost for the day is $25.00 per person. “Early Bird” fee is $20.00 if registered and paid by March 1st. Fee includes all material and handouts, lunch and the patch.
Time: Check-in begins 8:00 AM. Opening at 8:45 AM. Classes begin at 9:00 AM.

As Scouters, we continue to grow. As we pass along our Scouting knowledge to our peers and to our Scouts, they too will grow. The new adults and youth of today want to know the ways of Scouting. If they do not grow, Scouting will not progress and that would be a great loss to all.
