Troop 601 - Colchester, VT

Welcome to Troop 601's Home Page

Our Troop is focused on initiating fun events & activities to engage youth in Boy Scouting.  We welcome the general public, parents, boys and Cub Scouts to join us.  Our activities vary throughout the year and touch upon a wide variety of experiences which appeal to young men.  Activities are selected by the Scouts themselves, who then plan and execute them with the guidance of Senior Patrol Leaders, their Scoutmaster and adult leaders.  Meetings are generally held each week where Scouts work on learning new skills and advancing in their rank within Scouting.  Additionally, there are many camping and service activities throughout the year.  There are more than 150 awards that can be earned as a Boy Scout. Whether it’s a rank advancement, merit badge, or one of the many other individual awards, there is plenty for each Scout to set his sights on.  Over the years, our troop has provided significant opportunities and experiences for our Colchester Scouts, many of whom have advanced through the Scouting hierarchy to reach the pinnacle of Scouting by becoming an ‘Eagle Scout'.

Scouting promises you the great outdoors.  As a Scout, you can learn how to camp and hike without leaving a trace and how to take care of the land. You’ll study wildlife up close and learn about nature all around you. There are plenty of skills for you to master, and you can teach others what you have learned.

Since 1933, our Troop has had a history and tradition of community service and participation in Colchester.  We have been a proud part of the Boy Scouts of America and its traditions.  Our legacy is to put a program in place to provide our young men a place to grow and enjoy the outdoors while focusing the attributes and values of the Scout Law:  A Scout is ... Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.

We meet at the Union Memorial School, 253 Main Street, Colchester on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM.  Please check event calendar for updates.

Please feel free to contact our Troop Committee Chairman, Michael Cabral at 802-862-2672 or email cabral.m@comcast.net for additional information about the Troop and its activities.
