University of Scouting
and the College of Commissioner Science

The Green Mountain Council Training Team gets together and pools their resources to offer a bi-annual program of supplemental training courses. This "University of Scouting" offers a full day of advanced training in a wide variety of 50 minute sessions designed to enhance your Scouting knowledge, perfect specific skills, get a grip on finance and organization, run effective meetings, learn new recruiting methods, delegate authority, plan outings, maximize time, and have fun! It takes the tried and true methods of Scouting, and personalizes them for you. Get a fresh perspective on the relationship of the Council to the District, and to your unit. Learn the latest facts and BSA positions directly from the source. See the latest in training aids and literature. Remember, as James E. West said, "The three most important words in Scouting are training, training and training".

Opportunities are provided for Leaders to earn a "Bachelors" or "Masters" degree, or attend post-grad classes and work towards completing a "Doctorate". (See guidelines to obtain the degrees included in the registration packet.) New Unit Commissioners also have an opportunity to attend Commissioner Basic Training, and advanced courses at the "College of Commissioner Science".

During the 2008 event, many of the instructors provided handouts or printouts for their Powerpoint presentations. Some of those are available from the links listed below.
