Philmont Scout Ranch 2008
Green Mountain Council Philmont Contingent July 15th-27th
The Green Mountain Council will be sending a contingent to Philmont in the summer of 2008! We are looking for 27 registered Scouts or Venturers and 9 adult Scouters.
Requirements:
- Youth participants must be 14 years old by January 1st 2008 or have completed the 8th grade and not 21 by July 27th 2008.
- Youth must be at least 1st Class by July 1st, 2008.
- All participants must have a complete scout uniform including: shirt, shorts, socks, and belt.
- All participants will be expected to meet the medical requirements as set forth by Philmont.
- Each participant (youth and adult) will be expected to attend a majority of the contingent and crew activities in order to attend.
Logistics:
- Our Trek dates are July 15-27, 2008. There will be an additional day or two for travel.
- We will be flying to Philmont. All airline regulations will be followed.
- The estimated cost is $1400.00 per participant. A $100.00 deposit is due with application. Make checks payable to Green Mountain Council.
- Each participant will receive a contingent hat, t-shirts, neckerchief, patch, and travel bag.
- This is a completely boy led-boy run trip and the youth will play a large role in planning their trek itinerary.
- A contingent committee made up of leaders attending the trip and other adults with relevant experience will meet monthly to coordinate logistical items.

- Adult interviews will take place between April 20th and May 1st.
- Youth interviews will take place between May 20th and June 30th.
- Participants will receive a letter/email confirming their spots.
