Waterbury resident is new Long Trail District Chairman
in Green Mountain Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Green Mountain Council Scout Executive Richard Stockton (left), passes on the 2008 Centennial Quality District award to welcome Robert F. (Bob) Griffin MD (right) of Waterbury as the new District Chairman of the Long Trail District.

The Green Mountain Council is chartered by the Boy Scouts of America to bring the Scouting program to Vermont. As one of four Districts in the Council, the Long Trail District facilitates the Boy Scout movement in northeastern Vermont including all of Washington County and parts of Lamoille County.

An Eagle Scout and a West Point Graduate, Bob is currently senior medical director for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont. For almost 10 years Bob has served as Committee Chairman of Waterbury’s American Legion’s Boy Scout troop 701. Throughout those 10 years Bob has seen many changes in the Council.  He is particularly encouraged by the Council’s increasing use of technology.  Instead of relying on newsletters to obtain Council information, now you can simply go to the Council web site www.scoutingvermont.org to get almost every thing you need, from forms to event announcements.

Bob is looking forward to working with district volunteers and is especially grateful to have this opportunity at a time when the Boy Scouts of America is approaching 100 years of  building tomorrow’s leaders through a positive program.
