COUNCIL JAMBOREE INFORMATION SHEET

EVENT:  The 2010 National Scout Jamboree is a national encampment that brings together

Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts and leaders from all over the United States, along with

visiting Scouts from many parts of the world.  The Jamboree is planned for 35,960

Scouts and unit leaders, plus over 7,500 national, regional and subcamp staff members.

The plan calls for 899 provisional units, with 36 Scouts and 4 leaders in each unit.

The Jamboree is an unforgettable experience of Scouting at its finest, the opportunity

to forge Scouting friendships that endure forever, in a virtually non-stop program of

challenging and fun events.  This Jamboree celebrates 100 years of Scouting in the USA!

DATES:  THURSDAY JULY 22-WEDNESDAY AUGUST 4, 2010

TRAVEL PLANS:  The Green Mountain Council Contingent will leave Vermont on

Thursday July 22 and travel to Maryland.  Our plan is to stay on a college campus,

and from there to travel to Washington, D.C., and Baltimore to visit sites of historic

interest, as well as attractions such as the Baltimore Aquarium, and a major league

baseball game dependent upon the MLB schedule.  We will be in Baltimore for one full day, and in Washington, D.C. for one full day.  On another of the tour days, we will

travel to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania.  We will camp at the jamboree until the morning

of August 4, and return home that evening.

ORGANIZATION:  The jamboree is open to all who are qualified on a first come basis.  After

our troops have been filled, a standby list of alternates will be established.  Scouts will be

assigned to a jamboree troop consisting of 36 Scouts and four adult leaders.  You will be a

member of a patrol within the troop.  The council contingent will consist of 3 troops.  We

will be located in Subcamp 3, an excellent jamboree site in close proximity to the

Northeast Region Action Center, and in reasonable access to all major jamboree

                attractions.

TOTAL COST:  $2,000.00 for both Scouts and adult troop leaders.

                Final Payment:  $250.00                  May 15, 2010

FEE INCLUDES:  The jamboree fee covers all transportation, tours, admission fees, meals,

lodging, and patrol and troop equipment, as well as insurance.  Your fee also covers the

training camp before the jamboree, and items such as a duffel bag, cap and shirt, jacket

and patches issued to each contingent member.  The only additional expense will be your

personal equipment, uniforms, and spending money.  The fee is based upon presently

estimated transportation costs.  If those costs increase, we may have to increase the

jamboree fee accordingly.  We will also be engaging in fundraising activity to try to keep

costs down.  Some scholarship funds are available through the Regional Office.  Early

jamboree registration, and request for scholarship assistance in writing are strongly suggested in order to increase prospects for scholarship assistance.

REFUND POLICY: If you sign up for the jamboree and then find that you cannot attend, you will

receive a full refund from the Green Mountain Council only if there is an alternate to

take your place.  In the event that there is not an alternate, a partial refund will be made.

This includes the fees that you have paid to date, less any expenses related to contractual

                agreements on your behalf.
