Gold Star Unit Program

New for 2008, units of the Green Mountain Council will have the opportunity to become a Gold Star Unit.  What is a Gold Star unit?  How does my unit qualify?  What are the benefits of being a gold star unit?

Gold Star Units will be those units achieving 100% or more of their 2008 Family Friends of Scouting campaign goal.  Goals are based upon the cost of sustaining one Scout in the Green Mountain Council for one year.  Units are asked to raise 25% of that cost for each Scout in the unit (based on March 31, 2007 membership).  Gold Star Units will receive special benefits for supporting the Green Mountain Council Family FOS Campaign.

Units meeting this goal by March 31, 2008 will receive the following benefits.

A Gold Star Unit will Receive:

  1. All rank patches FREE!

    • Cub Scout Packs - Tiger Cub, Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light patches
    • Boy Scout Troops - Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life patches, and the standard Eagle presentation kit
    • Venturing Crews - All Bronze Award Bars, all rank certificates & Silver Award Pin
(Note: Advancement reports must be submitted to receive advancements)

  2. 10% of FOS dollars raised deposited to the Unit Account at the Service Center.
  3.  A 10% discount off all BSA merchandise (catalog orders or store stock) on one order between June 1 and June 30, 2008.  All purchases and orders must be paid in full on the date of order.

All Benefits will begin after FOS presentation is made and goal is met or exceeded and will continue until March 31, 2009.

If you have any questions please contact your District Executive.
