Invitation from the Vice President of Program
Dear Green Mountain Council Scouter,
It is a pleasure to greet you again, as the Scouting path that we all hold dear begins its long bend from high Summer into Fall! Hopefully, it has been an active Scouting Summer for you and your youth. Memories of Camp, Treks, and the great adventures, challenges, and growth there, are still with us. But the signs of change are in the air, and in the light of day, and it is time to begin a new program year. We have a great deal to do this year. It will be an outstanding year for our program from troops, packs, and crews, right up to some very special council-wide events. We need to train and fire up all of our new leaders right away, so that they can truly deliver the promise to our youth. On October 3rd through 5th, our Council Jubilee will take place at Camp Plymouth (now Plymouth State Park) to kick off our celebration of the Centennial of Scouting in Vermont and the nation. Summer of 2009 brings the National Order of the Arrow Conference. And in Summer of 2010, we will be joining 35,000 Scouts from all over the U.S. and the World to celebrate BSA’s 100th Birthday. Lots happening, and I hope that each of us will fully partake of all of the opportunities presented to be true “change agents” in the lives of our Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Explorers.
JOIN US AT THE COUNCIL COORDINATED MEETINGS, beginning with our first Coordinated Meeting of the Year on Thursday, August 28th, in Berlin, at the Latter Day Saints (LDS) Church on Hersey Road. We truly need every one of you to join us, to make for the best program for all of our youth. This year in particular, it is important for us to “get right to it” and have some great fun in the process! Thanks for all that you do for Scouting, I am looking forward to seeing each one of you there.
Walt Morris
Council VP for Program

What about the new Centennial Scout Uniform—what are the details? Want to have the latest information for your Scouting Tool Kit? Come join us!
What are the Council Coordinated Meetings?
The “Coordinated Meetings” are just that—a meeting held every other month, at which all of our Council Unit and District Commissioners, District Committee members, and all Scouters who are interested, get together to receive the latest information, resources, and training for commissioner service and the key program areas of Scouting, right down to the unit level—Activities, Camping, Training, and Advancement. If you are a Green Mountain Council Scouter, whether at the District, or Unit level, you are cordially invited to join us at the Coordinated Meetings!
How do the Coordinated Meetings work, and when are they held?
The “Coordinated Meetings” bring all of our Commissioners and Committee Members together in one spot, to meet together, then separately as committees, then again to report back at the end of the meeting so that everyone can be “in the know”. You do not have to be a committee member to attend, if you are interested in any of the program functions, or commissioner service, you are more than welcome to attend, and participate in the committee meeting that you choose. The August Meeting is on August 28th. The following Coordinated Meetings will be held this year on October 23rd, December 18th, February 19th, and April 23rd. Please mark the dates now, and plan to join us.
Where are the meetings held? What time do they start? Do I need to bring anything?
Our Coordinated Meetings are held at the LDS Church in Montpelier. It is a spacious, pleasant meeting environment located on Hersey Road, which is just off of the Route 302, the Barre-Montpelier Road. The meetings begin with a pot luck supper at 6:00 PM, with the business session starting as soon as most are done eating. Come when you can, if you can’t get there right at 6:00 PM. Please bring a pot luck dish to share, but most important of all, bring yourself, and a Scouting friend. Here are the directions to the LDS Church in Berlin:
