Tips and Advice to help your sale
Steps to Success
• Train your Scouts and parents, so you have a fun and safe popcorn sale
• Make sure checks are made payable to YOUR UNIT, so you can deposit them into your unit’s checking account and make ONE check out to the council.
• Establish a unit goal to shoot for and/or a unit incentive program in addition to the council provided prize program
• Don’t forget your religious organization’s bulletin or hand out. Set up a stand after services and ask members to support you
• Popcorn can be used as gifts for teachers, co-workers, neighbors, babysitters, and relatives
• Schedule a pick-up and turn-in party for your Scouts and parents
• Place your order on-time and schedule your pick-up time
Share these tips with your Scouts and parents
• Set up a popcorn booth after your religious service(s). Ask permission to do so prior to selling.
• Ask your chartered organization for their support in helping you with your sale (bulletins or newsletters).
• Ask parents to consider popcorn as an employee holiday gift or other form of recognition or appreciation gift for their fellow employees.
• Contact your customers from last year and ask them if they had any friends who wanted to support Scouting by purchasing popcorn.
Business Tip

The local bank is a great place to boost your sales. Just take a copy of the take order form and an envelope for them to put their payment into to your local Bank. Be sure to dress in your uniform. Ask the manager if you can leave a form for the employees to place their orders on. Tell them that you will pick the order form up in a week, be sure to give them the day you are coming back. Also tell them the date of delivery. (You can even write the 2 dates on the top of the form.)
Another idea to boost the sale there is write a brief note telling what Unit you are with and what your unit is going to do with the money earned. If they pay when they place the order all you have to do when the popcorn comes in is delivery it to the bank and you do not have to worry about collecting the money. This usually amount to at least 10 sales. Remember to wear your uniform all three times – leaving form, picking up form and delivering the popcorn. Be sure to say THANK YOU!!
This same method applies to Insurance Agencies, Town Offices, Real Estate Offices or any other business.
