The Camp Sunrise Daniel Beard Award
The Daniel Beard Award is presented to recognize and honor those boys who have completed a service project at Camp Sunrise. Daniel Beard was an author, illustrator, surveyor, woodsman and also one of the original leaders of the scouting movement in the United States. Among his many gifts, the one most important and the reason this award bears his name, was his willingness to give time and energy to help boys enjoy the activities of scouting. He dedicated more than seventy years of his life to this effort and made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of boys. Daniel Beard also knew that Scouts learn by doing and we hope that all Scouts who participate in completing a service project will learn something valuable in the process.
In presenting this award to a unit, Camp Sunrise thanks these Scouts for the positive impact their work will have on their fellow Scouts and future visitors to our beautiful camp.
