Letter from the Camp Director

Summer Camp, a long-term camping experience of seven days and six nights, is one of the greatest highlights for boys in Scouting. Traditionally considered one of the cornerstones of the Scouting program, summer camp is the climax of the Troop's year-round program.

High-quality summer programs await you at Mount Norris Scout Reservation.

Come! Plan to attend Mt Norris Scout Reservation for the 2008 camping season.

  • The "First Class Adventure" program is a weeklong program that your first year scouts can be part of. This adventure gives instruction in all the skills needed to be a good scout hiker and a confident scout camper, covering requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First class. The First Class Adventure includes a merit badge of the scout’s choosing as part of his week.
  • The “Indoor Climbing Wall” is a great program feature for Scouts working on the climbing merit badge and for scouts and leaders that just want to climb. The climbing wall is available for troops through out the year.
  • Our “Field Sports” area gives new life to the “sports” part of camp and is very popular.
  • The “Mountain Adventure” is a program for your older scouts and this program will be enhanced in 2008 to include week long Backpacking Treks, Climbing/Rappelling, Mountain Biking, Motorboating, Water Skiing, and sail boarding when the wind is up. These programs can be done as a Troop, Patrol or as a group of older scouts from different units under the leadership of the camp staff.

Please consider the Mt Norris Scout Reservation for your troop and come “Join the Adventure” for your 2008 summer camp experience. Please review the program opportunities at Mt. Norris in the 2008 Leaders Guide. The Order of the Arrow and your District’s Camp Promotion team would enjoy the opportunity to speak to your Troop about Summer Camp at Mt Norris. Please let them know the date of your troop’s camp promotion parents’ night.

You may send inquiries to me, Dave Osborne.

Sincerely,

Dave
