Calvin Coolidge Spring Camporee

Spring Camporee ~ May 7-9, 2010

Hosted by Stellafane, Springfield Telescope Makers, Breezy Hill, Springfield Vermont.

Visit  www.stellafane.orgExternal Link to view the facility and see what will be available for camporee.

This is an Astronomy focused camporee with both a Boy Scout and Cub Scout program. If you want to earn Astronomy merit badge, Boy Scouts should get their 'blue cards' from their Scoutmaster and start working on requirements that take additional time. There will be merit badge counselors on site for hands-on activities.

Stellafane has requested a preliminary head count to be sure to have sufficient materials available for each scout. We will be gathering this information soon.

More information is forthcoming.

UPDATE:

Good afternoon leaders in District #2,

I personally would like to invite you to the Spring Camporee being hosted by the Springfield Telescope Makers in Springfield, VT on May 7-9, 2010. Also known as Stellafane, they have an 88 acre site, with several buildings housing telescopes, one in which the whole roof slides back to allow for observation. They also have a 6,000sq ft pavilion that they are making available to us. This is an excellent opportunity for your boys to work on the astromony merit badge. Stellafane membership has merit badge counselors among them, so getting things accomplished look great.

There will be a Cub Scout program too.Not too often do we get an opportunity of such a group of volunteers seeking us out, that want to work with our youth. I encourage each unit to attend as we're expecting a spectacular campfire hosted by our chapter of the Order of the Arrow. Please check out www.stellafane.org the website of our host. Show your boys what they have to offer us. And I hope to see you there. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 802-886-2566 or 802-738-6499.

Yours In Scouting,
Dennis Clancy
CC Activities Chair

PS: The Bennington troop just asked if we had room for them to attend. This is also a great opportunity for the youth as well as leadership to mingle and network!
